Current Situation and Features of Global Barley Consumption

Abstract：This article analyzed the current situation of global barley consumption with respect to its consumption structure,major con-sumption countries,trade,and import and export markets. Barley is mainly used as feed globally,which accounts for 68. 39% of its total consumption. There are ten major barley consumption countries in the world,whose consumption levels have varied greatly with the year;European Union has the largest consumption,followed by Russia. An upward trend is shown in the total barley consumption, and import and export trade volumes of the world,while different continents and countries have substantially different barley consump-tion levels. Both of barley import and export markets are relatively concentrated,with the former largely distributed in Asia and the lat-ter in Europe.
