Hydrogen Energy: The Bridge Between Traditional and New Energy - A Review Based on China and the United States
Abstract:In the context of rapid development of battery technology, electrochemical energy storage still faces bottlenecks in energy density and endurance, especially in scenarios such as heavy-load and long-distance transportation. In contrast, hydrogen energy, as a clean energy option, is expected to play a key bridging role in the energy transition. Positioning hydrogen energy as the 'bridge' connecting traditional fossil fuels and renewable energy systems stems from its unique properties: it can achieve a smooth transition through fossil fuel-based production, and also realize a zero-carbon cycle through electrolysis of water using renewable energy. Based on technical data and development status, this paper reviews the current positioning and future pathways of hydrogen energy by analyzing the limitations of electrochemical energy storage, the derivative paths of the hydrogen economy, and the differentiated development logics of China and the United States.
