Abstract:Diffusion in solides has been interpreted by mature theory of Equilibrium Segregation which is based on single atom diffusion. Non-Equilibrium Segregation takes place with the vacancies annihilating in grain boundaries. Equilibrium Segregation and Non-Equilibrium Segregation can coexist at grain boundaries, and there is a segregation transition tempreture. Above the tempreture, Non-Euilibrium Segregation plays the predominant role and below the tempreture Equilibrium Segregation plays the predominant role. On the base of vacancy-solute atom complexes diffusion, Non-Equilibrium Segregation can be satisfactorily interpreted.
